Mother claims cafe owner branded her 'disgusting woman' for breastfeeding in public

Lisa Willis is planning to sue the owner of The White Coffee House in Harwich, Essex. The cafe owner allegedly ordered Lisa “to leave the cafe and go to a public toilet”, because she had been breast feeding her 10-month-old daughter in public. When the owner ordered Lisa to leave the cafe, she followed her out of the cafe and threw the remains of the table into the Lisa’s car and called her a “disgusting woman”. According to the co-owner of the cafe, male customers complained that they did not want to drink their coffee with a woman breast feeding a child there and that Lisa was not ordered to leave, but asked to cover herself up whilst breast feeding.

Opinion:

If Lisa is telling the truth, I obviously do not agree with the way she was ordered to leave the cafe. But eventhough women should have the freedom and opportunity to breast feed their child, I have to admit I do not like seeing women nursing in a public place. I will probably antagonize some people by saying this, but although breast feeding is a natural thing, I do not like to see women breast feeding their child, just as much as I do not like to see couples French kissing and feeling each other up in a public place. Some things should just be kept private.
